千貫峠　Sengantouge

千貫峠
　永禄十二年（一五六九）川場の合戦に破れた沼田万鬼斎顕泰たちは、天神の館に火を放ち、会津城主芦名（あしな）盛重を頼り白井路を戸倉超えに落ちた。
　途中、敵の追手に難渋し、峠で憔悴したかれの眼に映ったのは、岩の中に生い立つ古木の松であった。
二度と会うまいこの光景を見て「さても良き松かな。われ世にある時ならば千貫文の領地にも替え難し」と詠まれたとのことである。
源義経や多くの武将が、奥州へ流れ落ちるとき、悲しみと歓喜の思いを残し峠に立ち松を眺めたとの伝説がある。
　沢すじから吹き上げる風音が原生林にこだまし、ある時は追手の喚声であったり迎え撃つときの声に聞こえる。いつの頃からかこの松を千貫松と呼び峠の名となった。

Sengantouge
In the 12th year of Eiroku (1569), Numata Mankisai Akiyasu and his fellow, who were defeated in the Battle of Kawaba, set fire to Tenjin's mansion. Then, relying on Ashina Morishige, the lord of Aizu Castle, he fled down Shirai Road to Togura.

On the way, he encountered difficulty in being pursued by the enemy, and when he became haggard at a mountain pass, what he saw reflected in his eyes was an old pine tree growing among the rocks.
It is said that when he saw this scene, which he would never see again, he wrote the following poem. "Anyway, it's a nice pine tree. In my lifetime, even a 1,000 gan mon territory won't replace it."
Legend has it that when Minamoto no Yoshitsune and many military commanders fled down to Oshu, they stood on the mountain pass and gazed at the pine trees, leaving behind thoughts of both sadness and joy.
The sound of the wind blowing up from the stream echoes in the primeval forest, and at times it can be heard as the cries of pursuers or as they attack. At some point, this pine tree was called Senganmatsu and became the name of the mountain pass.
